Quiz Time: All About Me

I'm selfish - I like filling these out, but I'm not going to lie, I don't "tag" people to do the same. This list is all about me.

My current occupation is: Instructional Designer - but no one really knows what I actually do, including my family and most of my friends. I've given up trying to explain. It's not complicated, but it's not a very common job.

My dream job is: I would love to be a voice actor. They get paid loads of money and they don't have to be on camera. If that doesn't work out, I would love to run a Horseback Riding Therapy camp.

If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be: I would love to live by the ocean. First choice: Malta. Second Choice: somewhere in the Caribbean - Belize or the Bahamas.

If I could be someone famous, it would be: Gwen Stefani. She has the best clothes, plus I would love to be able to sing. I would probably have to dump the guy from Bush and steal Ryan Reynolds (hot AND funny) from Scarlett.

The best birthday gift I could receive would be: I'm still waiting for that pony

If I had a million dollars, the first thing I would buy is: Land

When I was a teenager, I thought that at my age I'd be: Older

The goals I'm currently working on are: I'm perfecting my voice for my dream job. And I'm working on an adventurous five year plan involving lots of travel and possibly a move to Malta.

When I am 80 years old: I hope I am sitting on a patio decorated with twinkly lights at a summer barbeque with my husband surrounded by kids and grandkids and great-grandkids.

!?!Donde Esta Mis Pantalones?!?

Whilst perusing the net (which may or may not have occurred during work hours) for useless information, I found out that the Babel fish translator will translate whole websites. I decided to repost one of my entries in espanol (which I need to learn vamanos) - which reminds me, does anyone want to go to eSpain with me this summer? I'm going to Barcelona, Valencia and Ibiza, and possibly Malta or Morocco, for a week (with a free place to stay in Valencia).

Watch for Flying Snails

My eight-your-old nephew sent out an email today via my sister. He's full of ingenuity and is constantly inventing, building or selling something; like the Paper Airplane stand he had last summer (lemonade requires too much capital up front). And now, he's launching a new product called the Flying Snail (I'm buying four before they sell out!) I remember doing stuff like this as a kid - I was less creative though, no one wanted to pay for my dog training skills.

The Virus of Restlesness

"A trip, a safari, an exploration, is an entity, different from all other journeys. It has personality, temperament, individuality, uniqueness. A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. . . . In this a journey is like a marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it. I feel better now, having said this, although only those who have experienced it will understand it. " --John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley

How 'bout a MANwich?

I know I'm not a food critic or anything, but I just had one of the best sandwiches of my life. A few weeks ago, my friend Brad told me about Wiseguyz Pizzeria in orem, and as I was craving something more substantial for lunch today, I went and ordered me a sammich. What I got was more Manwich - even a half steak&everthing was more than I could eat. It gave me beard burn, that's how manly this sandwich was. I'm not a huge fan of pizza, but lucky for me the U.C. has a Boston pizzaria (Nicolitalia), a specialty pizzeria (Pizzeria 712 = especially delicious) and an NYC pizza place complete with posters of old gangsters (Wiseguyz).

LDS General Conference

My favorite talk was given by Jeffrey R. Holland. I don't believe I have ever heard a more straightforward or powerful testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Favorite Quotes:
"Faith is a principle of action and power. It requires us to do, not merely to believe. . . . [doubt] comes from a lack of confidence in oneself or abilities - it is inconsistent with our divine identity as children of God. " - Kevin W. Pearson

"Let us remember on this Palm Sunday, during this Easter Season, and always, that the restored gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has the power to fill any emptiness, heal any wound and bridge any vale of sorrow. It is the way of hope, faith and trust in the Lord." - Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"Fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith." - Thomas S. Monson

This makes me happy on so many levels . . .

I Want to Be Like Ree!

A year or so ago I discovered that another woman was living my dream life. Every time I read thepioneerwoman.com I feel like I am reading about what my life could have been in an alternate reality!
The Pioneer Woman is my everything icon! I love her blog, her writing, her cooking, her photography, her prairie-ranch lifestyle (complete with miles of open land and horses), and her business sense. Forget Martha Stewart (who is a bit of a fraud in my opinion), I want to be just like Ree when I grow up! I have tried several of her recipes and they are espectacular! My favorite so far is the Best Chocolate Sheet Cake Ever recipe (and I don't even like sheet cake that much).
I love that her recipes have photos and commentary. Why didn't I think of this? **Favorite quote: "I make about as much sense as a ferret." I know exactly how you feel Pioneer Woman. . .
